Many of the horses you know and love from WildeWood Farm stories did not start their lives here.
Some arrived as owner surrenders when life circumstances changed. Some came from neglect situations. Some were starvation cases. Others simply needed a safe place to land when their people could no longer care for them.
While WildeWood Farm is not a rescue, we have always believed in giving good horses a second chance whenever resources allow.
The wonderful thing is that many of these horses go on to become some of our very best teachers. They carry nervous beginners, help children learn confidence, participate in equine-assisted learning activities, and touch countless lives along the way.
The average cost to maintain one horse is approximately $400 per month ($4,800 per year). This includes feed, hay, routine farrier care, dentistry, deworming, and basic veterinary care.
Some horses require considerably more. Starvation cases often need specialized feeding programs. Senior horses may require soft food. Injured horses can need extensive medical care and rehabilitation before they are comfortable and able to return to work.

The horses themselves are cared for by WildeWood Farm, Inc., which provides their daily management, housing, feed, veterinary care, and overall well-being. Read more about how we help second-chance horses.
While donations do not constitute ownership or direct sponsorship of a specific horse, contributors are welcome to honor a favorite horse whose story has touched their hearts.
