Horse Riding Lessons at WildeWood Farm

HORSEBACK RIDING AND SAFETY CLASSES FOR ALL LEVELS IN CUMMING, GEORGIA

Inclusive Horseback Riding Lessons

Many of our guests come to us looking for affordable horse riding lessons, and we’re happy to help riders of all backgrounds get started.

If your child wants to take their riding more seriously, we recommend investing in a helmet and riding boots. Having their own gear helps kids get comfortable with proper equipment and makes each lesson feel more personal.

In your beginner lessons, you’ll learn the essentials: safety precautions, how to handle horses properly, grooming basics, and how to earn a horse’s trust. These fundamentals are what turn someone who sits on a horse into a real equestrian.

As you progress, we’ll dive deeper into technique. You’ll work on balance, timing, and strength – learning how to move in harmony with your horse instead of just along for the ride.

At WildeWood Farm, we’ve been teaching riders for 30 years. We have 30 lesson horses, so you’ll get your own horse each week – no sharing, no waiting. You’ll do everything hands-on: catch your horse, groom them, tack up, ride, and care for them properly. Our lessons focus on real horsemanship and safety, not flashy tricks that skip the fundamentals.

We offer two ways to schedule:

    • Option 1: Pay as you go at $80 per lesson (prepaid)
    • Option 2: Pay a flat $280 per month for one lesson every week

Wondering if your young rider should take lessons or start out in horse camp? Horse Riding Camps vs Riding Lessons.

Some farms might be cheaper or let you skip straight to riding, but at WildeWood, we believe in building skills that last a lifetime.

Note: We require that jeans, close-toed shoes, and weather-appropriate shirts be worn at lessons for safety and comfort. Rider weight limit is 205 lbs.

Lessons for Kids

Our kids’ lessons are hands-on from start to finish. Your child will learn how to catch their horse, groom them, tack up, ride, and put everything away properly. We keep our groups small so every rider gets individual attention, and we take things step-by-step – focusing on fundamentals, safety, and building real confidence in the saddle.

Lessons for Adults

Our adult lessons are designed for riders of all levels – whether you’re brand new to horses or returning to the saddle after years away. We take a patient, step-by-step approach that focuses on building real skills and confidence. You’ll work with well-trained horses and supportive instructors who understand that learning to ride as an adult comes with its own unique challenges and rewards. It’s a great way to stay active, spend time outdoors, and do something just for yourself on our peaceful Cumming farm.

New! Little Riders – Pony Adventures at WildeWood

We’re excited to offer something special for our youngest horse lovers. At WildeWood Farm, we’re often asked about lessons for toddlers. The truth is – at ages 2–4, children aren’t quite ready for traditional riding lessons . . . But they are ready for something just as important. A gentle, confidence-building introduction to horses.

Frequently Asked Questions about Horse Riding Lessons

We understand the excitement behind that question. Many children fall in love with horses long before they are big enough to ride independently, and parents naturally want to encourage that interest.

At WildeWood Farm, we truly enjoy welcoming young horse lovers. We simply wait until children are developmentally ready before beginning formal riding lessons. Read More

While riders may feel safest on their favorite horse, becoming too comfortable with one horse can sometimes slow skill development. Every horse has its own personality, movement, responsiveness, and way of communicating with a rider. Learning to adapt to those differences is what helps riders become well-rounded, confident, and truly skilled equestrians. Read More

Riding lessons are more than just learning to ride. After more than three decades of teaching riders, we’ve learned that horseback riding lessons aren’t just about learning to post or perfecting your canter. Sure, those skills matter, but what really happens in our arena goes so much deeper. Read More
